3D Views

Here are some 3D views of lithic artifacts, generated using RTI data; only one side, since that’s how RTI works. If you click on the Download icon at upper right, you can download the original .ply 3D data files. These ply files can be viewed in free software like Meshlab or ccViewer. The first projectile point is in the highest resolution, followed by the other two; 3D resolution depends on the resolution of the original photographs the models were derived from.

Just to show that the technique is good for more than projectile points, here’s a 3D surface of a bighorn sheep effigy bead from eastern Arizona (length about 1.4 cm).
